Separate the heavy stuff
Tiles, mortar, bricks and concrete are charged by weight. If they're kept in their own pile rather than mixed through light debris, the whole load gets cheaper.
Asbestos on older homes
Pre-1990 Melbourne homes can contain asbestos in sheeting, eaves and floor coverings. It requires a licensed removalist and is never part of a standard rubbish collection. If there's any doubt, get it tested before demolition starts.
