If it's still in good condition
Charities will collect some furniture, but most now refuse anything stained, damaged or flat-packed. Call before you commit to a date, because a rejected pickup leaves you back at square one.
Council hard waste
Every northern-suburbs council offers hard waste collections, usually a limited number per year with size and item restrictions. It's free but you wait, and mattresses or large lounges are often excluded.
When to just book a removal
If the item is heavy, upstairs, or you need it gone before a moving or settlement date, a private pickup is the practical answer. Send a photo of the item and the path out — that's all we need to price it.
